The Tangent PreAmp III is a versatile stereo preamplifier that gives you complete control over both digital and analogue sources – all in a compact and elegant format. Building on the success of the PreAmp II, this new generation introduces Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD, balanced XLR outputs, and a 12V trigger for seamless integration with power amplifiers such as the Tangent PowerAmpster III .

With its built-in CS4344 24-bit / 192 kHz DAC, the PreAmp III delivers precise and detailed sound reproduction, whether you’re streaming via Bluetooth, connecting digital sources through the optical input, or playing vinyl through the integrated RIAA phono stage.

Flexible connectivity

The PreAmp III is designed to be the central hub of a modern hi-fi system, offering a wide range of connection options.

On the output side, it provides both RCA and balanced XLR outputs, a dedicated subwoofer output (250 Hz / 12 dB/oct), and a 6.35 mm headphone output for private listening

RCA Phono/Line input (with RIAA for MM cartridges) for turntables or analogue sources.

3.5 mm AUX input for quick portable connections.

Optical Toslink input for digital sources such as a TV or CD player.

Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD for high-resolution wireless streaming.

Smart and user-friendly operation

The PreAmp III features an Auto On/Off function that automatically powers on when a signal is detected and turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity.

A 12V Trigger Out allows it to control connected power amplifiers – such as the PowerAmpster III – so your system powers up and shuts down in perfect sync.

With the included remote control and a clean, intuitive front panel layout, operation is both simple and elegant.

New packaging

The PreAmp III comes in Tangent’s new packaging where almost all plastic has been replaced with cardboard. This ensures a cleaner and more practical unboxing experience.
